Hebrew is a Semitic language of the Afro-Asiatic langauge family. It is spoken by over 7 million people in the state of Israel and other Jewish communities around the world. There are many different pronunciations including: Ashkenazi( originating in Central and Eastern Europe) and Sephardi (influenced by the Ladino(Hebrew and Spanish roots) language.  From the beginning, Hebrew has evolved from "Classical" to "Modern."  Different dialects are "Standard Hebrew"(Israeli/European) and "Arabized"(Arab/Yemen). Generally, these differences have faded and the language has become more uniform. Hebrew uses the Hebrew Abjad writing system.
